Yes! Replacement play dough is available for every kit. We also have jars of scented dough.

Play dough can be swapped out for an alternative colour and glitter added if this is something you would like. Add your request details at the time of ordering and we will endeavour to meet your needs.

We currently ship anywhere in Australia. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout.

Play with it often! After each use, your dough should be stored in a zip lock bag, with as much air removed as possible, then placed back into your play dough kit or back into its sealed jar. Kits should be stored in a cool, dark, dry place. Alternatively it can be stored in the refrigerator but this is not necessary unless you are unable to store it out of direct sunlight or your climate is unrelentingly warm. The refrigerator does provide an added sensory experience, especially pleasurable in warmer months!

We use Australian Made food essence that is obviously food grade and although it is not recommended will not cause harm if it is ingested.

As our dough is made to order, please allow 1-2 weeks turnaround time (see current turn around times on the home page). If you require your products to arrive by a specific date, please get in contact with us prior to making your purchase, and we will do our best to make it happen!

Pick up is from Legana, Tasmania.
You will receive an email with an exact pick-up location when you order is ready. Current turnaround times are generally a week however, please leave a note at the checkout if you require your order by a certain day/time.

Our dough is made from non-toxic, food grade ingredients so if a little dough happens to make it into their mouths it is completely safe. Although, we do not recommend excessive amounts to be eaten. Although a food grade product it is not produced for consumption. Supervision is always recommended.

Because the dough is made with a high salt level, it can lose moisture over time which then causes salt crystals to form. This is easily fixed by kneading a small drop of oil (vegetable, canola or coconut) and a few drops of water into the dough, kneading it until it to restore softness. If your dough gets a salt ‘spot’ it can also be kneaded without oil or water until it dissolves back into the dough or just picked off and removed. If the dough is left in direct sunlight for long periods the colours could change, usually it just needs a good knead to restore a consistent colour through it.

If stored correctly, and played with frequently, your dough should last upwards of 3 months!

Before each use ensure little hands are clean and dry. The better care you take of it to keep it fresh the longer it will last.

Our kits contain small parts that could be a choking hazard, we recommend 3 years +as a generalised recommendation. We have specific kits for children 6 months plus. Although we have had lots of children younger than 3 enjoy their boxes with adult supervision. At time of purchase if you add the age of the children that the kit you are ordering is for, we can modify some of the small parts for similar larger parts.  It is your personal choice for your child? There is no maximum age! Even adults love them!

The dough jars are made from eco friendly PET plastic.

We love PET plastic as they are strong, sturdy and lightweight so you won’t have to worry about your child dropping it and breaking or even worse, breaking their toe!

PET is eco friendly as it’s more recyclable than glass, and leaves less of a carbon footprint on the environment.

  • Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain’s pathways, which lead to the child’s ability to complete more complex learning tasks.
  • Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross    motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.
  • This type of play aids in developing and enhancing memory
  • Sensory play is great for calming an anxious or frustrated child
  • It helps children learn sensory attributes (hot, cold, sticky, dry, soft, hard)
  • Learning is taking place, in the best way possible- through PLAY!

Hands on Play Dough comes in a generous 200gram jar. It is enough to spread comfortably amongst 2 children. To compare, a standard play doh tub is 90grams. The dough fits easily back into the jar providing airtight storage and easy pack up.

Items within our kit are subject to availability and hand picked. Whilst we make every effort to provide you with a kit identical to our website images availability of stock and colours may vary. Our dough is hand made on our kitchen bench and whilst we work hard to produce consistent colours with what you see on our website, there could be slight variations due to monitor and phone colours as well as the postage environment. If the playdough has been in high heat (say a hot day) during postage the colour could change, it just needs a good knead and it will return to it’s original colour.

As children manipulate playdough they work on their fine motor skills and finger dexterity. These are the skills that are required to perform everyday tasks such as doing up buttons and zips, operating scissors, opening containers and eventually- handwriting.
